Traditional textile “Tais” is regarded as a cultural tradition passed down from ancestors. Timor-Leste’s ethnolinguistic groups all have their own terminology for this traditional cloth. Similarly, with the weaving instrument, start at the beginning and proceed to weave through to the end. “Soru-Na’in” refers to all traditional textile weavers. Weaving is regarded as a daily practice for all women. The utilization “Tais” has a very profound and essential meaning for the people of Timor-Leste from birth to death. Timorese people utilize ‘Tais’ in traditions and social behaviors such as lia-mate and lia-Moris, Barlake, Fetosan-Umane, receiving guests, and also to demonstrate cultural and ethnic identity.
