Lautem Municipality
Etymologically, the word “Lautém” comes from the word “Lau‐tenu” (in Fataluku language, it means Sacred Tais). The municipality of Lauté m is made up of different ethnic groups such as Fataluku, Makalero, Saani and Makasae. The variations of Tais existing in this municipality are in the category of Tais Fataluku and Tais Makasae. Therefore, Tais with the category of Fataluku belongs to the community of Fataluku and Tais with the category of Makasae belong to the community of Makasae and to Makasae-like language groups.
